I retrieved 9 eggs with low AMH but only 3 were mature and now I’m confused whether maturity issues are common with diminished ovarian reserve or if something else could be affecting this.

I totally get this :/ I had a low AMH too and sometimes only a few eggs were mature after retrieval. Diminished ovarian reserve can affect egg maturity, but other things like how your body responds to stimulation can play a role too. It’s confusing but having a clear plan really helps to understand what might be happening.

I had something similar with low AMH. It can happen, and one retrieval doesn't tell the whole story. Getting 9 eggs is still encouraging, and I’d focus on those 3 mature ones for now.

Based on my knowledge from research and discussion with fertility experts, there is sometimes a connection between low AMH levels and a reduced number of mature eggs; however, the cause of immature eggs is not necessarily the diminished ovarian reserve. Other factors that may influence the immaturity of eggs include age, response of the follicles to the medication, and when the trigger shot was done. I highly recommend that you discuss with your fertility specialist what protocols you can consider doing to help you in future egg retrievals. Good luck with everything!
