I’m 29 with AMH under 1 but my RE still said my egg quality may not be as affected because of age. I’m struggling to understand how age and AMH are weighed differently during IVF.
I remember being confused by this too because once u hear “low AMH” it’s easy to assume everything fertility related must automatically be bad. But from what I understood during IVF consults, AMH seemed to matter more for egg quantity/response to stimulation, while age was still a huge factor for egg quality and euploid rates. That’s why hearing low AMH at 29 can sound scary but still not carry the exact same implications as low AMH later on.
I’m honestly getting so confused trying to understand how age and AMH are both weighed during IVF planning 😞 Like if someone has a lower AMH but is younger, does egg quality matter more than egg quantity at that stage? And how much does age start affecting outcomes even when AMH still looks “good” on paper?
Age matters because egg quality tends to decline over time, while AMH mostly gives an idea about egg quantity/reserve 😔 So someone can have a “good” AMH but still struggle because of age-related egg quality, or be younger with low AMH but still have decent quality eggs. That’s why doctors look at both together during IVF planning 😭
