In older age, AMH levels naturally decline because the number of eggs in the ovaries decreases over time. A low AMH level in older women indicates reduced ovarian reserve, but it does not necessarily mean pregnancy is impossible. Age remains the most important factor affecting egg quality, embryo health, and fertility outcomes. AMH helps fertility specialists estimate the expected response to ovarian stimulation during IVF, but it cannot predict the ability to conceive on its own. Both age and AMH are considered together when evaluating fertility and planning treatment.
