Did anyone conceive from IUI after being convinced it was “unlikely” to work for them?

I feel like once you spend enough time in fertility spaces, you start hearing statistics and success rates SO much that it becomes hard to stay emotionally neutral going into IUI. Especially when age, endo, low AMH, sperm issues or unexplained infertility get added into the mix.

I’d really love to hear from people who were told IUI probably wouldn’t work for them or who had already mentally moved on to IVF… but then ended up conceiving from it anyway. I think a lot of us walk into these cycles trying to protect ourselves from disappointment before they even begin.

Did anyone actually conceive through IUI after being pretty convinced it wouldn’t work for them? 😕 I feel like after hearing success rates and statistics over and over, especially with things like endo, low AMH, unexplained infertility etc, it becomes sooo hard to go into a cycle with any real hope left. I’d genuinely love hearing from ppl who had already emotionally prepared themselves for IVF or disappointment but somehow ended up conceiving through IUI anyway because I think so many of us try protecting ourselves before the cycle even starts.

Yes 😔 I remember going into IUI already emotionally preparing myself for failure because after hearing enough statistics and fertility discussions it starts feeling “unlikely” before you even begin. What surprised me honestly was how many people I later saw conceive from IUIs they had almost mentally written off already. Fertility outcomes can feel alot less predictable in real life than they do on paper sometimes.

I totally get where you're coming from. After hearing so many stats and success rates, it’s hard not to feel discouraged, especially when age, low AMH, or other issues like endo and sperm problems come into play. I remember feeling the same way before going into IUI, convinced it wasn’t going to work for me. I had already mentally prepared myself for IVF. But to my surprise, it worked! It’s tough to stay hopeful, but sometimes IUI can work even when you least expect it. You’re not alone in feeling this way, and it’s okay to protect yourself emotionally, but don’t lose hope!

I’d genuinely love to hear stories about this too 😭 Sometimes after hearing words like “low chances” or “unlikely” over and over you almost stop allowing yourself to hope during IUI. Fertility statistics can feel so personal when you’re the one actually living through the waiting and uncertainty.
