My scans showed a good follicle count but retrieval results were shockingly poor and now I’m terrified about egg quality. Did anyone else experience this mismatch?
My scans honestly gave me so much false hope 😞 I went into retrieval thinking the numbers looked reassuring because my follicle count was decent, but the actual outcome ended up being way worse than I mentally prepared for. Now I can’t stop spiraling about egg quality and whether the scans were ever truly reflecting what was happening biologically in the first place. Has anyone else experienced this kind of mismatch between scans and retrieval results?
I totally get this 😅 I had a good follicle count on scans too but my retrieval results were way lower than expected. It was so terrifying thinking my eggs might be poor quality. I’ve learned it doesn’t always reflect the scans and sometimes the body just surprises you in the next cycle!
Yes that mismatch can be really upsetting. a good follicle count doesn't always translate into a high number of mature eggs or embryos. some people have reassuring scans and then end up with fewer eggs retrieved than expected, or find that egg quality becomes the bigger challenge 😭.
unfortunately, follicle count is only one piece of the puzzle. egg maturity, quality, response to stimulation & underlying conditions like endo can all affect the final outcome.
