Urinary incontinence or bladder leakage tends to be somewhat more common as patients age. It is also known as urinary leakage or loss of bladder control where you have a tendency to accidentally leak urine. Some people with this medical condition may have frequent or sudden urges to urinate. For other people, the disorder results in an inability to control the bladder. This can lead to leaks.

Both men and women can have urinary incontinence (UI). Women experience this condition about twice as often. Up to 45% of women have UI to some degree. Urinary incontinence isn’t a disease, it’s a symptom. It can be caused by everyday habits, underlying medical conditions, or physical problems. So let us learn what causes Urine Leakage?

What is Urine Incontinence?

Normally people have voluntary control of urine. Whenever a person has control over urine it is called urine continence. Urinary incontinence meaning is the involuntary leakage of urine. Types of urinary incontinence/urinary incontinence causes

1. Urge Incontinence

Whenever a person has the urge to pass urine, this intense urge to urinate followed by an involuntary loss of urine. this is very common especially in the women who are in the postmenopausal age group means women above the age of 45-45. The second reason why women have urge incontinence is due to diabetes. The third cause is due to urinary tract infection.

2.Stress incontinence

Whenever the bladder is subjected to any kind of stress. Urine leaks when you exert pressure on your bladder by coughing, sneezing, laughing, exercising, or lifting something heavy. It is majorly common in elderly women but this is also caused due to traumatic delivery. Traumatic delivery here refers to a normal delivery assisted with forceps or vacuum delivery. These are the potential factors that cause stress incontinence. Stress incontinence can be corrected with the help of surgery.

3. Mixed Incontinence

In this, the women experience both urge and stress urinary incontinence.

When women have incontinence issues with urine, they become sexually recluse. They do not disclose these problems to their family members, That is something which is unfortunate.
