The female reproductive system comprises the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and external genitalia, all found in the pelvic region. The innermost layer of the uterus wall is known as the endometrium. Sometimes the endometrium overgrows within the uterus and outside on ovaries, fallopian tubes, or (posterior) behind the uterus. This outgrowth is termed “deep endometriosis”.
Most endometriosis expansion is seen on the ovaries, also known as Chocolate cyst. These cysts prevent the passage of menstrual blood. Let’s look at the pain depiction when you are diagnosed with endometriosis.
Major symptoms of endometriosis
Here are a few common symptoms associated with endometriosis:
- Pain during periods, urination, passing of stools.
- Heavy bleeding
- Infertility
Always keep in mind that one of the most common signs of endometriosis is painful periods, followed by lower abdominal pain. Then there’s the pain during sexual activity, especially if you have deep endometriosis. And the last one is discomfort during bowel movements.
Endometriosis is detected in some patients, yet they have no symptoms. These individuals may believe that if they are not in pain, they should not seek therapy. This way of thinking is entirely incorrect and a common myth. The truth is that if you have endometriosis, you should get medical help immediately to avoid future complications. Please seek medical advice.
Where exactly is the pain?
In the case of endometriosis, the pain is excruciating. Many women need to take pain relievers, especially during menstruation.
- Lower abdominal region
- Painful period – Dysmenorrhea is a pain in the lower abdomen that happens before or during menstruation. It may be a minor inconvenience for some, but it may become unbearable for others.
- Pain during sex – In cases of deep endometriosis, females experience pain in the vaginal area during sexual intercourse. This is especially true for women who have deep endometriosis. Dyspareunia is a medical word for painful sex, defined as persistent or recurrent genital pain occurring just before, during, or after intercourse.
- Pain in the rectum – Endometriosis can sometimes damage the rectum, causing discomfort during stool movement.
